The Changing Shape of Practice Seminar

29 September 2016

DogA - The Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture

Institutions and organizations like DogA, AHO and NTNU, have unified the professions of design and architecture. Using relevant knowledge, methods and tools from both fields have become increasingly important. This is based on the believe that the professions have more in common than what is typically utilized today. The ability to rapidly compile and use new knowledge has emerged as a crucial competence to deal with the increasingly complex challenges and requirements both professions are facing. How do practices acquire the ability to do so? The seminaristic dinner meeting at DoGA marks the beginning of the conversation on the topic bringing 25 designers and architects together in this effort. The aim is to follow this up by a series of round table discussions at DoGA during 2017 and to bring more key players into the discussion.

Participants:
Tor Inge Hjemdal [Director Architecture, DogA], Benedicte Wildhagen [DogA], Billie Faircloth [Kieran Timberlake], Eli Synnevåg [Snøhetta], Kristian Edwards [Snøhetta], Sofia Martins da Cunha [Snøhetta, AHO], Gregg Pasquarelli [SHoP Architects], Jonas Runberger [White Architects], Bjørn Gunnar Staal [Void], Anders Næro Tangen [Void], Ole Gustavsen [Rector, AHO], Rachel Troy [Vice-Rector, Institute Leader IDE, AHO], Prof. Dr. Andrew Morrison [Director Centre for Design Research, AHO], Prof. Dr. Michael U.
